Warm. Friendly. Meaningful.
We are excited to embark on this year's annual fundraiser. There has never been a more important time to ensure the light of Judaism and Torah is available for all Jews.
Support goes to programming and services for Jews of all observance levels to take advantage of inside our ever growing building - that's right, we're currently in the process of expanding our children's area and adult learning rooms.
Our fundraising team may be reaching out to you soon to answer any questions you have and discuss the giving opportunities available. You can also click the available link here to make a donation today!
Your donation is an investment in Jewish Houstonians now and in the future. Thank you for your support!

Dear friends,
The recent horrors in Israel are beyond words. There have not been more Jews murdered in a single day since the Holocaust. The State of Israel has not been caught off guard like this since the Yom Kippur war.
Our hearts ache for the hundreds of families who have suffered unimaginable losses, the thousands wounded in the most gruesome of ways, and the traumatized communities whose sense of security has been shattered. We share the agony of the hostages and their families, held captive by hate-filled individuals who have lost their humanity.
Every single soldier in Israel - in both active duty and in the reserves - has been called up. I read that there is currently a four-hour wait in Yerushalayim just to donate blood. Thousands are volunteering to help the wounded and support the soldiers. All hands are on deck in our beloved Eretz Yisrael.
So where does that leave us? What can we do from thousands of miles away? Every Jew around the world has been left thinking: “what can I do?”
1. Add more Prayer to your day.
As Jews, we don't panic even when terrible atrocities are committed against our people. We will be stronger than our enemies. We turn to Hashem to protect our people. Yes, we feel the pain of our brothers and sisters; we pray for them, we cry for them, but we won't panic. The news reporters are not in charge; Hashem is in charge. Let us never forget what David Hamelech tells us:
״אלה ברכב ואלה בסוסים ואנחנו בשם ה׳ אלקינו נזכיר״
“Some with chariots, and some with horses; but we, in the name of hashem, our god, call out.”
Each of us, are strongly encouraged to fervently recite Tehillim chapters 20, 83, 121, 130, and 142.
After each minyan in shul we will say Tehillim.
Let’s cry out to Hashem to protect our holy nation. May Hashem bless the Holy soldiers who are working to protect our homeland to be miraculously successful in all of their missions!
2. Donate to organizations in Israel.
There are so many legitimate causes that all need our help. Here is a list of just a few that need our support:
1. Soroka Hospital, Beersheva, closest major hospital, treating hundreds of casualties, https://www.soroka.org/
2. Emergency Relief, Rav Rimon/Mizrachi, providing for soldiers in coordination with army and government officials, https://www.jgive.com/new/en/ils/donation-targets/110057/about?fbclid=IwAR0gBFPIZOumP4sgEVCrs2DNyscjb4U03NlzIJcEcqTHqi9r23HTGE2CebY
3. Barkai, Rabbi Dovid Fine, in contact with many rabbis in the field, will direct funds to immediate needs such as food and supplies for soldiers, coordinated with commanders and officers in the field, https://secured.israelgives.org/pay/makedonation?MakeDonation=1&AmutaGovId=580556546
4. Grilling for the IDF, providing food to the huge numbers of soldiers in the field, coordinated with the commanders and officers, https://www.grillingforidf.com/
5. One Family Fund supports families who have lost love ones in these evil acts of terror, https://onefamilytogether.org/donate-2/
3. Be on your best behavior.
Take extra sensitivity towards others. Don’t get involved with arguments. Call a vulnerable friend to check in on them. Be kind and listen. This is the time to manifest the best version of ourselves while our brothers and sisters are fighting and in danger. Now is the time to spend an extra few minutes studying Torah. Now is the time to spend an extra few minutes doing chesed. And now is the time to spend an extra few minutes coming to shul to daven. In that zchus, may Hashem protect us from any further tragedies and atrocities.
The Jewish people will prevail. Israel will prevail. May the cost towards victory be mitigated. We pray to Hashem to heal the wounded, for those in captivity to be back within their families embrace, and for our brave soldiers to return safely. At the same time, we mourn the loss of each of the hundreds of precious souls whose lives were brutally cut short.
בצפיה לישועה קרובה,
with hope for imminent salvation,
Rabbi Menachem Bresler

Who are we?

The Meyerland Minyan Synagogue is dedicated to bringing the beauty of Torah and the warmth of belonging to Jews of all levels of learning and observance, creating a spiritual space you can call home with a congregation you can call family. At The Meyerland Minyan Synagogue we foster a sense of Achdut (unity) that extends beyond our shul’s walls, to our Shabbos tables and into our daily lives. Located in the heart of the Jewish Houston, TMMS welcomes every Jew, whether you are starting your return to Judaism, looking for learning opportunities, seeking a community in which to raise your family, or just need a place to say Kaddish. We reach out to our fellow Jews seeking spirituality and growth to join us at services, classes and programming to help build a more cohesive community.
We invite you and your family to partake in the experience that is TMMS.
